Coward

I remember well, I was wearing a crisp white salwar with pink thrown in; that day. As every other day, I was waiting to board one of the route buses to office. I did not know about this particular bus number until that day; I did not see it after that day also. The bus was not empty, it was not crowded as well.

I did not find a seat, but it was more than enough that I could stand freely. There was someone behind me who I thought was close enough. You guessed it right, a guy. I moved away and there was nothing eventful until a row of seat was empty. I occupied the window and this guy the aisle. He was dressed like an executive, formals and all that. I sensed he was trying something but couldn't. I don't mind sharing the seat with men; as long as they are well behaved. This fellow was not doing anything so that I could raise an alarm and slap him hard. But at the same time, he was not quiet.

Fortunately, my stop arrived; I alighted from the bus and started crossing the melee of vehicles and started walking. It was a traffic signal; and before I knew he caught up with me. Now, I don't think this was his destination as well, but I never knew. I was walking fast and he was trying to catch up. Once he was walking beside me, he gave a sloppy compliments that I looked great. When I turned around to look at him, he was sweating like a pig.

I was more flummoxed than being angry. Now what was this guy wanting, whatever it was, he seemed so scared. I felt poor for his attire now soiled with sweat. I was near the office almost, he still seemed to be walking with me. Fed up, I just stopped and said "Do you want to talk over a cup of coffee?"

Well, I did not know why I said that, but I knew he was a coward to accept the offer. He just walked away after that. This happened 6 years ago; dont ask me why I got reminded of this incident today.

  2. Bindu...
I had a similar experience in a bus but he was troubling me in the bus. I caught hold of his hand which was the cause of the trouble and crushed it so that he won't forget that in his life. But to my surprise even when I raised an alarm not even a single man came to help me except to say . 'shame. shame'Only one old lady sitting near me shouted at him. That boy just got down frm the bus and ran away.

    2. You mean you had to stop commuting by bus because of this problem with men?

    3. No, I dont have the need to commute by bus anymore. :)

  5. It's God advicing you to pray for you hooking up again,I love this thrilling love story,as it was obviously God that had him fall super naturally in love with you because He made you for him.Unless you are married already of course since it's been 6 years ago, only somebody dedicated to God and loves Him with Passion would wait that long for this man that found you.

    1. Kitty, well, its not that important. This was some freak who wanted a bit of fun I think

      Delete
    2. He's not a freak, and I think he was serious,it must have costed him a lot to pursue you like that, but then he lost the nerve, you probably intimidated him too much by your bold suggestion.

    3. I dont think so. I dont think anyone could just get serious seeing someone during a journey just like that. And if it did happen, his demeanor didnt show that he was serious

    4. He was nervous, why else would he have sweated so much?Maybe he fell head over heals in love with you,you know how nervous we get when we fall that deeply in love and are extremly physically attracted to someone,we get tounge tied and intimidated shaking like leaves in front of the object of our affection.I don't understand why he didn't accept your invitation for a cup of coffee and conversation however.

  6. It is really 'God advising you' to say the right thing - "Do you want to talk over a cup of coffee?" Now B, if that wasn't the smartest thing to say! You diffused the situation so beautifully - that probably deflated his ego and something else.

My sister used to carry around a large Safety Pin all the time...

    1. Haha I dont know even to this why I said that! Maybe I really would have spent half hour talking to him and understanding his mindset if he had agreed. :)

My mom also would advise me to carry chilly powder; isnt it sad?

  10. Well done. Unless, you stop and ask, they wont stop doing things like that.

React, and question. It is easy. Let him answer. Usually , they do not answer, they disappear.

  12. I just read something similar in another post about Indians and sexuality. Like Kushwant Singh said, for Indians, sex is in the brain and not between the legs'. Even though we coined Kama Sutra,we are poor performers in sex because of ignorance in matters of sex.I have seen many studies, saying Indian women are unhappy about their sexual relation in marriage. Men are so shy to learn about sex other than secretly through porn and think that is the way sex is.They think every woman walking the street is available.

This guy must have been impotent!

    1. True Doc. Its sad and they dont realize how much their behavior affects women.

    2. Ahhh you see Insignia,he suffered, and you indeed should have offered to take him out for a cup of coffee, lunch even.Impotency is tough for men to deal with, especially since the women nowadays have changed from former days and have become men, and I'd sure like to too,but have chosen to obey God insted and stay a woman,I don't even shave my face to start growing a beard to feel more of a man.

such people need to be stopped at first instance..
so next time CHAKK DEO FATTE .. or let me come over and i can follow the one following you and thrash him .. what say :)

  15. LOL! Good job Bindu! For a second I was expecting you to conclude that that he was trying to return something you dropped in the bus. But this incident was real! Good that you stayed cool and handled it so well. I might have already shared a couple of my incidents with you long ago. It is really strange when some guys act as if they have not seen a guy in their life. :^p

  16. You are right Gautam, the women are out of order nowadays and behave like men, hunting themselves good catches as husbands. How did you know this about USA and Northern Europe?

  17. No,No.I dont agree with either dr.antony or Khushwant Singh.
There are ways boys(?)use to express themselves.
Why dont you consider...you are and you must have been very good lookking even 6 yrs back.Isnt it natural for a young boy in his 20s to chase you?It is.
I would have labeled him abnormal if he hadnt.
Lets be honest,I did---and most of the boys-- almost similar acts when I was young(?)
And how does one say that girls at an age group dont have sex in mind as much as men have?
    Please dont say COWARD---say NORMAL.

    1. For once, I dont agree with you Chowla sir. I am not saying its abnormal to express or have those fantasies. Its abnormal not to have them. But there is a way to behave and conduct. And thats why we are social beings. He was not behaving well.

  18. You are an ageist BK Chowla, pure and simple, by using the word "EVEN", you are exposing yourself as one,you are very offending towards Insignia making this ageist comment suggesting she's butt ugly now that she has aged all of 6 years. How do you know she's not much more beautiful on the inside where it counts, and as we all know it's maturity that makes women more beautiful which 20something women have none of,I don't even look at them as I see no beauty in them, besides it's beauty within that is expressed on the outside and shines through. And it's the ungrateful,selfish,self-centered,egotistical,uncaring 20-something-year-olds like I used to be, that are so ugly on the inside that I can't be within an arm's length without shuddering in horror and irritation of what it feels to be in their presence,I actually have to take off running from them and the same goes on on the Internet except I click fast.No my friend it's the elder women that are truly beautiful, and you sir are as I said a bonfied A1 ageist, and I hope you are a man enough to admit it.And as Christian men are also ageist, I guess there is no shame in men being agest anyhow. And last but not least, you know the old saying "Get rid of your 40-year-old wife and replace her with 2-20-year-olds" isn't that the fantasy of all men?So there is nothing for you to be ashamed of my good man,you are in a good company, all men agree with you that wome over 36 are all old, haggard, worn out and ugly, and as the Icelandic men call them kellingar and are not ashamed of it.
