We all know the most difficult tasks we face each day right? Like waking up at the first shrill sound of an alarm or letting go of our favorite junk food to watch the waist line. But have you wondered what are the easiest things in the world? Here is my list. Now if you are wondering I would say list good things, then you are in for a disappointment.
5. Eating and Sleeping : Well, I have not heard anyone who doesn't like to eat; except for wafer thin models. Sleeping, do I even have to say anything? Just imagine a life where we dont have to earn/study; these are the only two things we would be doing.
4.Bitching : If you ask me, this one is so bad but it feels go good to bitch about someone isn't it? Evil yeah! but its easy!
3. Blame : Passing the buck is one thing we can do with accuracy. I came across a nice cartoon; isn't this so obvious?
From https://www.facebook.com/Mr.ErkanTORUNNN
2. Complain : Favorite of them all. Just complain, don't offer any help, just complain and wait for things to happen
1. Asking generic questions. Its easy to question, try providing a solution and you will know. Why is it this way? Why not that way? are all primary irritants of our life.
Any other additions?

Life goes on
Its been a while since I shared some of the snaps I have clicked in recent times. Off late; I click the pictures and keep it with me; don't share it anywhere. Maybe this behavior is normal when you do things for your satisfaction. Straight to pictures now
River Cauvery along the borders of Karnataka and TN - Hognekkal...A river divides...a river unites...
The Carbonatite rocks; oldest in Asia, the lines and the fixtures telling you stories of the eons past by, the coracle ride offering a vista of nature's treasure.
Blood red cherries....their presence is enough to soothe you.
An enigmatic hat seller....The boy's eyes were captivating. He was talking like a mature man. I wonder how he would be in 20 years - Fort Aguada, Goa
Basilica of Bom Jesus as seen from Se Cathedral, Old Goa
Shut forever? The door was intricate and it was mysterious since you dont know whats behind it - Se Cathedral, Old Goa
Another Game...or is it?
I am not alone; I am just waiting for my companion - Karwar coast
Soaring high to stoop....A fish or two to scoop.. River Mandovi.. I need a better lens
An old photo. Was reading Dear John......got reminded of a snap I clicked long long ago...Of a stranger walking out of the sea with his surfboard....the sun was setting and he formed a perfect silhouette...The protagonist in the novel is just like that stranger...Or that's what I think - Zuma Beach, Malibu, CA, Dec 2007

Wine and Wine
Itching to write on wine for sometime now. Visited wine festival held in Bangalore few months ago. They had good collection of Indian wines. I looked forward to visiting it since I carried my memories of wine tour in California. There were wine tasting and grapes stomping and other activities. But as expected I did not find it too great.
Now its just because of my expectation that I was disappointed. Nevertheless, the fact that Bangalore was hosting the wine festival and that people are patronizing wines is good enough.
My experience has been a drive through the scenic Napa and Sonoma valley lined with acres and acres of vineyards and old mansions. Every vineyard has its winery that can be toured to learn about the grapes, its variety, how climatic conditions affect wine type; wine process and storage facility. Not complete without wine tasting sessions with good cheese and crackers.
Through the years, have learnt about different wine types and their specialty. My friends and seniors know whom to contact for an expert advice on wine :P Yeah weird source isn't it? I have an interesting anecdote as well. That story is for another time. Anyway if you need a recommendation on this elixir, you know now whom to ping! Here are some pictures from few of my wine tours.
Landscape dotted with rows of vineyards along the way.
On the left side too
A fitting statue; Liked why the grapes bunch is too important here.
Grapes ready for harvest
Wine tour. A friend arranged for a private tour. This man was explaining how they choose the grapes and all that story; it was nice to learn a lot while sipping signature wine.
Wine processing units
Oak casks- they provide a distinct flavor to the wine as they mature
First glimpse of wine
An old winery at Sonoma valley
Aged casks
No description :)

Always right
Dancing at the first beat of music; carefree of the people around .
Making a plaything even out of a broken twig.
Talking to a toy as if it were with life; oblivious to the smiles around.
Identifying animals out of clouds.
Excited seeing the arch across the sky - rainbow.
Not worried a wee bit to talk sense - with all the goo-goo-gaa-gaas.
Just scribbling on the wall makes it a beautiful picture.
When do we lose this innocence? Is it a gradual process or do we lose it over a night's sleep? Measuring words when we talk; worried about what others will think about us.
Chasing false praises and fake success. Trying hard to live for others and make others happy. Putting up a fake smile for others' jealousy.
Dance amidst a group but lonely in reality.....
How long -
To measure what one speaks?
To wear a fake smile?
To try to be right always?
I dont know :) OK! this post is a witness to how worked up I am due to work! Yeah its naiceeee..........:P

Crunchy Carrots
The color of the carrot is enough to entice us. In Ooty fresh luscious bunch of carrots are sold everywhere.
Clicked a couple of pics. Inspired me to write few verses. Just random words with rhymes. Dont try to find a meaning :)
Clicked a couple of pics. Inspired me to write few verses. Just random words with rhymes. Dont try to find a meaning :)
I was walking along,
Found a carrot on the ground,
Look around to see to whom it belonged,
But no one was around.
Fresh green stalks,
Gave way to flowery leaf,
Is there around; a rabbit?
Instead saw perched; a parrot.
I took the carrot
thats when it started
They are a wonder
The best is down under
Loveliest of orange,
No! not a mirage,
My love is like the carrot
I heard from the parrot
What you see at the top,
Is just a tiny drop
My love; like a thunder,
Emerges from down under.

I'm busy
Really!!
Its amazing what wonders keeping yourself busy can do :) No?
I am a tad lazy person; though I have stuffs on my plate to do, I would rather mull over them and 'keep planning' than getting my butt off and actually finishing tasks and ticking them off one by one.
I didn't choose to be busy; I would never ever :-D; lazy bum I am. The thing is; I move to a new team couple of months ago. It left me literally nothing to do; but now we are building the team - lotta things to do. With my knowledge and others being new to the organization; I am the grand old mommy!! Suddenly, a plethora of responsibilities and dependability.
Yeah! its not a great thing to be proud of, but they are keeping me busy. I didnt choose it; it happened. Days are straining and I dont find time for tea. Seems I was eons away from blogspace; it was just Friday I blogged :) Its nice when you lose sense of time and days. That way, you dont give time to your mind to ponder about things that once happened and waiting for it to recur; or retrospect and wonder rights and wrongs.
You dont give your mind an opportunity to miss, to yearn, to ponder, to worry, to search, to wait.......
But I have been reading quite a bit these days. I had suspended the reading activity for a year or so. Just that my pondering got into too much of me and got lazy. Anyway, have you ever debated on reading over watching?
I always think about it; whenever I pick up a book. While I read, I visualize. You have all the freedom and creativity to visualize the characters, the locations, the expressions, the action et all. You can dress up a character the way you like; accessorize the car in action with your own gadgets....there is no limit!!
It gets so beautiful as you work up your mind to visualize the pine trees, the snow, the desert storm, the car chase, the vault, the secret zones......That is why I have always avoided watching movies adapted from novels. Somehow they disappoint me. Maybe because they either fail to match upto my imagination or that the movies in itself is fast paced and doesnt give you creative freedom.
I have been on a reading marathon. Romance, Thriller, Action....if work doesnt keep me busy, reading surely does. And yeah, my mind is clutter free and healthy.

We are better
Note : Its a satire..Yeah I need to explicitly mention it; my earlier experience tells me so.. This is a conversation between me and my alter-ego.
The Americans can have their way. If they can do it, why can't we?
Now what is this blabber about?
Terrorists.....Osama. He was hunted down and killed even without a trial.
Are you saying it was wrong?
You see, there is nothing like a right or a wrong. What is right for me, could be wrong for you and vice versa.
Are you the alter-ego or me?What is your concern?
The Indian government has listed 50 most wanted terrorists and all are based out of Pakistan. The media is asking why cannot we do a America-like operation to eliminate Dawood.
We cant. They could do because they are Americans; with billions of dollars of aid being given to Pakistan. They can afford to do it! They gave a new lease of life to the Afghans by driving out the Russians. They have been aiding Pakistan against the war on terror. So they can break the sovereignty of a country; raid a town and kill a terror mastermind. We cant....Period.
But......but......
Dont sulk. We Indians have done much better things to worry about not being able to mimic an American way.
Like?
Like....winning the Cricket World Cup!
Uummpphhh...
OK! Like sacrificing Mallika Sherawat to Hollywood.
Eeewwww we are better off than having her here!
Oh ok! Like inventing the ZERO!
Oh! Ohhh!!!
Nah its not Oh! Ohhh!! Its 0 as in 2-O-O-O in Two thousand.
I am still not convinced.
Why dont you accept that we have given the world far better stuffs to lead a good standard of living?
Give me one good point to agree.
Ass-jet!
What?
Yeah Ass-jet. We have a simpler and cleaner way to wash than wiping off our asses with papers!
Yeah! You are right! Hail the Ass-jet!
:-)

Gentlemen's Battle
The country is in a frenzy. Every way you turn, your ears definitely could catch a word or two about tomorrow's BIG match - the mother of all battles. Oh! oops! battle did I say? Pardon me for sensationalizing it. You see, I have been tuning on to those innumerable TV channels where they are giving "Eat Cricket, Sleep Cricket" advertisement tag a run for their "runs".
Which Japan? What Daichi? Libya - where? Gadaffi? Oh is he the 12th man in any Cricket team? We sure are going to turn deaf ears to everything else other than cricket. Make hay while the sun shines. Who knows when next India would face Pakistan in a semi-finals WC match? Everyone seems to take this wonderful chance - our honorable PM has invited his counterpart. Mr. Ambani seems to be spending 5 Crore for a special screening, TRP ratings, advertisements - weird and preposterous!! An umpire wanting a loo break. At the end of it all, aren't we having fun and banishing our boredom? Yeah! I hear someone complaining about the absence of Ms.Mandira Bedi. No sleaze this WC my dear!
Well, I am digressing. Whats raking my brain is the so-called Gentleman's game and the projected 'mother of all battles 'morrow. Isn't it a bit ironic. Sport in Roman era was ritualized fighting wherein the weaker was killed or mutilated. Cricket serves as a perfect sport to vent out the aggressive drives of our 'gentlemen' in a harmless manner. No! I am not overlooking Sreesanth's aggressive gesticulation or Harbhajan's swearwords coming out faster than his doosra.
But comparing it with the sport popular in the other parts of the world - The Soccer; the adrenaline pumping and heart thumping game; cricket is a peaceful one. Cricket; at a given time; has two players having bats; let me call them clubs which could easily break bones or the ball at the slight nudge can break tissues and spill blood. Not to forget those sharp wickets which could be easily maneuvered at the slightest provocation or those silent bales which can knock off as they get knocked off at any given opportunity. Yet, we have not come across such incidents; though one can put up with sporadic incidents and sledging which essentially are mind games.
The humble way a batsman walks away from the crease; without hesitation; clutching his bat close to his body; helmet off; appeases the opponents; the way you want to silence a blood-quenching spirits. Remember the lame duck cartoon shedding tears and nodding in disapproval on your TV screen whenever a bastman got out for duck? Or the way a bowler goes down his knees with disgrace when his deliveries are all converted to 4s and 6s..much to the joy of the jubilant batsmen.....Maybe thats why this game; devoid of violence is a gentleman's game. Imagine soccer players armed in a similar manner?

Silver Streaks
Dazzling bright,
against the brownish black,
Like a double rainbow,
if only for the colors,
just two in number,
yet commanding and conspicuous,
As the blacks bounce and sway,
These twins stand apart,
As if they had a fight,
Grabbing attention,
of the Mama,
As if to declare
"We are special"
Facing the mirror; admiring the mane,
I twitch in disbelief,
Despair and shock;
For these twins
are streaks of silver hair ............
I had a hair cut today. Its not a regular affair; I visit the salon once in 18 months or so. It happens when I realize what the condition of my hair is; unruly and weak. Then I go have a hair cut. I get pampered a bit with wash, conditioner; blow dry and all that.
I came home and was admiring the new style and the bouncy hair; when I noticed these 2 silvery strands. They were beautiful against the light from the bulb. Murphy's Law always in action; they have sprouted right near my forehead to full view of glory. I am in my 20s and gray I thought. But age is not a factor isn't it?
Hmm, souvenir. Let them have their rightful place. I am growing wiser :-)

Blog, Blogging and Bloggers
What binds us all here is one sole purpose, our passion for writing a.k.a Blogging in virtual world. The budding writer, the amateurish writer, the professional writer - all play in the same arena and each one has their own readers and fans and followers. Here is where you can rant, discuss, crib, complain, flaunt, debate........
Most of us start a blog to pen down our thoughts or to maintain a journal and then forget about it. The doubt if you can even frame one sentence and write it down is what lingers on; and the blog gets buried deep down. Few of them build the courage to resurrect it and start writing. And then, there is no looking back.
To Blog or Not to Blog....hmmmm.........
The best thing to happen here is interacting with so many fellow bloggers and sharing and exchanging views and learning whole lot of new things. Some of them crib, rant or write about personal life. Its their own space, few write beautiful poems and enchanting fictions; giving a run for a money to an established story teller. Few share recipes. fashion tips and few others share their travel experiences through journals and photography. All in all, a place for suckers of knowledge.
Here is where you can claim "Man, you are wrong" and fight for it :-) Or give lots of unsolicited advice or even better - plan someone else's life or have a take on others' decision or blog..blog..blog..about anything and everything happening around you
Bloggers - few of them continue to become good friends and go beyond the one that brought them together. Few stay on and continue to encourage and support and yearn for the same. Still few drift away - their work calling; they get sucked into their busy schedule and cant take time for the blog. Few of them gradually lose interest; for few its a temporary halt and they bounce back. Few other still stick on and keep writing and in the process make new friends and miss old ones.
As the blog evolves, so does the blogger. If you want to know how a blogger writes and the true style, start digging into the archives first. The present one might not be his true style, as the blog evolves and as the blogger churns up post after post, the creative juice flows away and topics dry. So the best of the posts are always in archives. :-)
I have been fascinated by innovative concepts like Tags, 55-er, Wordless Wednesdays, Muscial Mondays, Thursday Challenge, Blog awards and so on. Yes, I did want to receive those digital image as awards, wanted someone to tag me, wanted to write a 55-er. But then again, thats the "teenage" years of blogger. :-) You mature as a blogger and then look back and laugh at your desperate act to gain readers and comment count. All that mattered then were number of comments and number of awards and tags.
I have known bloggers as to what kind of a person he or she is with their writing, their passion towards life and purpose of life becomes evident by the topics they write. Those few people who constantly encourage and give constructive criticism keeps us going on and on, churning posts one after the other. Oh! there are few hypocrites out here as well; who follow you and throw in comments just to lure you into visiting their space. For them, the number matters. Few who just comment to keep their presence without even reading what the blogger has written or trying to say is common here. You can as well read different styles of commenting if you are observant.
I had an humorous take on comments sometime back. Check that our here - I Love Your Comments
Whatever......we continue to write; we continue to read, encourage and share; there's an untold Good-Bye when a blogger vanishes; we interact with different people at different point in time....
For bloggers may come and bloggers may go,
But our blog goes on forever :-)
PS : I dedicate this post to all you wonderful bloggers and also who have vanished from blogging world now.

Partner or Buddy?
Remember your first car? How well you treated it. That innumerable wiping until that last speck of dirt vanished and your car was all spotless and sparkling. You sulked for days when you saw the first scratch on the bumper. Your heart ached whenever the car's ground hit the speed breaker.
An interesting and amusing conversation popped up between me and Gautam. He bought a new car; his first car. But is not excited as he should be! During the course of our mundane conversation; I asked him how was his car doing. To which, he answered "i have left the poor thing out in cold. :-( he is having a layer of frost everyday"
But isn't car a SHE? For most guys? But the reasons he gave me as to why he thought his car was a HE was so amusing. Snippets of our conversation.
Gautam : it sounds kind of hard on a she thing to drive 'her' all the time... step on the gas... brrrrraaakkkkkke!!!! he is better me:-P she is soft he probably can bear it :-p poor fellow... staying out in the cold all night... and makes my life so much easier i get to work in 15-20 mins
I asked thus - so you mean to say "he" is strong enough to tolerate the cold? if it was 'her', she wouldnt have?
Gautam replied - well, i am saying that i first gender, subconsciously that struck me when i was referring to the car was the word 'he' and then i was thinking how he is out in the cold all day it so happens that, out of all the hes and shes bearing the cold, i referred to the car as a he
Read on......................
me: thats DISCRIMINATION!!!!!
Gautam: well once hes and shes are in cold, it doesn't matter if the thing is a he or a she
it is damn cold!
thats all that matters
lol!

So is your car a HE or a SHE? :-)
Gautam: well once hes and shes are in cold, it doesn't matter if the thing is a he or a she
it is damn cold!
thats all that matters
lol!
me: hahahaha

Blow your own trumpet
We feel so bloated when people look at us with awe and appreciate us hearing to our success stories. What if the success story is a bit exaggerated? We all want to feel great, believe we achieved a bit more than normal. When sharing our stories, we do tend to embellish with spice. Though this quality is as normal as gossiping in us, there are a type of people who have specialized in this. They inflate possibly everything, right from their appetite to their weight to their phone bills to their salary.
This type of people do not know the meaning of austerity; generosity is the mantra. But sadly, more often that not, they become laughing stocks, an object of ridicule. How far can they stretch their lies in the name of glorifying themselves? Overheard in a train journey was this conversation between two men; each one trying to glorify his own self. One said he donates blood every month; to which another said that the last time he donated blood; 1.5 bottle of blood was sucked out from him while it was just 1 bottle from others. The first one then went on to insult this guy by saying he doesnt donate blood which gets stored for future but only those cases where his blood is immediately injected to someone else! He went onto tell that he is the first person to be called by doctors in the whole city whenever there is an emergency. An universal donor with unlimited supply of blood....Ahem...ahem....
You just need to keep your ears open to hear to such gems. Its really an immense talent to keep your face grim and not laugh when you hear these jokes. I once took pride in saying how we solved division problems where one single problem stretched beyond 2 pages :-P Math problems for a grade 3 student. The lady and the 10th grade schoolgirl whom I was speaking to were smiling; I did not realize it there smile was wicked then :) But I felt really good about myself and a sense of achievement in solving a very long problem.
But what we fail to realize is the listeners are not fools. Why else would one say gajar ka halwa (carrot halwa) is white in color. Things get more interesting if it comes from older people when they try to show off their knowledge. But more often than not, its thwarting and tiring to keep listening to such self-glorifying details.
So its just a sense of achievement :-) So, whats your most interesting blowing your trumpet story? :-)

Trying to write
You have this, this, this and that to write and share.
(stares into space, watches TV, Kylie Kwong is showing how to make Ma Po Tofu)
Then you click on Posting -> New Post...your fingers snap and hit the keys....few words, backspace....stare at the wall, get lost in thought.....Get into the mood of laziness
(Sentence not turned out the way it has to...Backspace..........)
trying to dress your thoughts with words in your vocabulary....few more words, erase
(delete)
....snap the delete key.
As I typed those words above, I did type, backspace, stare, delete, type some more, nod my head in disapproval, delete, try typing again - whatever I did is captured within braces in italics. Yeah, the same old writer's block. I have loads to share, pictures, travelogues, thoughts and everyday experiences. Yet, why don't I feel like writing? Lack of interest. Why am I (stares into space......minces for the right words......got it!!!) uninterested?
Is that really a writer''s..................
(At this point, nod in disapproval, backspace....backspace....backspace....)
(Uummmppphhhh....need a hot cuppa...should i make it or sit still)
(Thinking.........decide to continue writing)
Yup, so talking about lack of interest. (Pauses) (Pauses again.....really blank..$#@&%)
Am I forcing myself here to write? No, I want to write. Been thinking to write for 2 days now. Yet, I cant bring myself to write something substantial. (Wow....the previous sentence just flew like a river downstream.....Improvement! )
Catches a glimpse of Kylie Kwong mentioning "put in some brown sugar. As the cooking process continues, the mushrooms soften and takes the beautiful flavors together. A tiny little bit of sesame oil for extra flavor, to top it off with fresh green chillies and fresh red chillies. A beautiful balance of sweet, sour and spice"....)
(Concentration lost)
I want to write about how blogging evolves and how bloggers and their posts influence us and what we write.
(Scratches the neck)
(Caramelized Potatoes is what I see on TV...Hmmm...sllluuurrrrrrrrrrppppp...)
So I want to write a post on blogging, influences and how blog evolves. Just wondering why most bloggers around have either vanished or are not writing anything interesting .......
(Ooops...thinks this might be an umbrageous statement. Bloggers not writing interesting? Maybe I am lacking interest. So....backspace...backspace....backspace...)
(Yaaawwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn.....)
OK!! Not Today!!!

This and That
It just takes me less than half hour to finish a post from start to end; I just write what I want to talk about and the words just flow; I don't proof read it or edit it. As such, my mind is cluttered with lot of things; work and otherwise. I took a long vacation; which I will talk about in my next post.
I am yet to come out of my vacation bliss, I got to work; but my mind still visualizes that surreal and magical experience, and I still cant believe I went on a vacation to such an exotic place. The place is a suspense until next post :-)
So, until I get out of my block, you are spared thankfully from reading me. Few random pictures though
Tapping wind energy
Good bunch of grapes make good wine.
Surrounded by valleys with dry grass
Liked this landscape
Wines anyone? Merlot, Chardonnay, Zifandel, Petite Sarah, Port........
His name was Toby.
A good green bunch
Loved the cloud pattern
Cable car of San Francisco
He was all gold
The Pacific ocean
SFO skyline and the Bay bridge
Watch tower at Alcatraz
Nice place to live?
Water tank at the Alcatraz.
Tried to take a different picture with these flowery stem in the foreground and the SFO skyline as the background
The underground metro system. The BART goes under the Pacific for 7 minutes. Scary to think of it.
A nice looking building
